# Reset Your Elate Password or Temporary Password

> Follow these steps to reset a forgotten Elate password or replace a temporary first-time password with a permanent one of your own choosing.

Whether you have forgotten your password or you have just received a temporary one from your organisation and need to set something permanent, the process is the same. Elate's password reset flow takes just a few minutes and is accessible directly from the login page — you do not need to be signed in to use it.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to the Elate login page">
    Open Elate in your browser and navigate to the login page.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Forgot Password">
    Find the **Forgot Password** link at the bottom right of the screen, directly underneath the **Sign In** button, and click it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your registered email address">
    Type in the email address that your organisation used to set up your Elate account. This is also the username you use to log in.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check your email">
    Open your inbox and look for a password reset email from Elate. Click the link inside the email to open the reset form.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set your new password">
    Enter a new password of your choice. Once confirmed, your password is updated and you can sign in immediately using your new credentials.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  If the reset email does not appear in your inbox within a few minutes, check your **Spam** or **Junk** folder. Email filters sometimes route automated messages there. If you still cannot find it, confirm with your manager or admin that the correct email address is registered on your account.
</Tip>

<Note>
  If you were given a **temporary password** when your account was first created, use this same process to replace it with a permanent password of your own. There is no separate flow for temporary passwords — the Forgot Password link handles both scenarios.
