# Fixing Support Recipient Search Issues in Elate

> Find out why the support recipient search may not appear to work, and which search bar to use to correctly filter your recipient list.

If you have typed a name into the search bar and the support recipient list does not seem to filter, the most likely explanation is that you are using the wrong search bar. Elate has two distinct search fields, and only one of them filters the support recipient list. Understanding the difference saves a lot of frustration.

## The Two Search Bars in Elate

Elate displays two separate search bars when you are on the Support Recipients page:

1. **The page-level search bar** — located directly below the **"Support Recipients"** page title. This is the search bar that filters the list of support recipients as you type. Use this one when you are looking for a specific person.

2. **The global search bar** — located at the top of the screen in the main navigation area. This search bar is designed for platform-wide navigation and searches across multiple areas of Elate. It does **not** filter the support recipient list.

<Warning>
  Do not use the **global search bar** at the top of the screen when you are trying to find a support recipient in the list. Typing into the global search will not filter or narrow down the Support Recipients page — it searches across the whole platform instead. Always use the **search bar directly below the "Support Recipients" title** to filter the list.
</Warning>

## Using the Correct Search Bar

<Steps>
  <Step title="Navigate to Support Recipients">
    Open the **Support Recipients** section from the left-hand navigation menu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find the page-level search bar">
    Look for the search input field situated **directly beneath the "Support Recipients" heading** at the top of the page — not the search bar in the global navigation at the very top of the screen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Type your search term">
    Begin typing the support recipient's name. The list will filter in real time to show only matching records.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  If you are unsure which search bar you are using, check its position on the page. The page-level search sits within the main content area, close to the list itself. The global search is always anchored to the top navigation bar and is visible from every page in Elate.
