Elate tells you when something needs your attention, such as a visit running late or a new safeguarding concern. This page shows where notifications appear and how to choose what reaches you. Who can do this: everyone. You only see the notification types your role can receive.
Your organisation may use different words for some things, such as “Service users” instead of “Support recipients”. Elate shows your organisation’s words everywhere, so follow what you see.

Where notifications appear

Select the bell at the top of the page, or open the profile menu and choose Notifications. The panel lists Today, Yesterday and Earlier, with All and Unread filters.
  • Select a notification to open the record it is about. It is marked as read.
  • Select Mark all read to clear the unread count.
  • Select the cross beside one to dismiss it, or Dismiss all. Nothing is deleted, and the record stays in your history.

What you get by default

Elate starts quiet. Until you or your organisation change anything:
  • In-app (the bell): on for the notifications that matter to your role.
  • Email: only for a few important types. Safeguarding concerns and new incidents go to Organisation Owners, Service Provider Admins and Care Managers (safeguarding concerns also to Team Leads). Account deletion requests and chat reports go to Organisation Owners and Service Provider Admins.
  • Digest summary: an email that collects anything set to arrive in the digest. If nothing is waiting, no digest is sent.
  • Push to your phone: on for chat only: new messages, and a new device asking for your chats. Everything else is off until you switch it on in the Elate Care app.
Some types are off for everyone until switched on, such as Arrival not confirmed and Medication reminder.

Choose what reaches you

1

Open your account

Open the profile menu and choose Account.
2

Find Notifications

Scroll to the Notifications section. Each type shows your organisation’s default, for example Organisation default: In-app, Email.
3

Choose for each type

Pick Use organisation default, Always or Never.
Use the All my notifications switch at the top to turn everything off in one go. Your choices then read Never, and each comes back as it was when you switch notifications on again. The one thing still sent is a request to approve a new device of yours in Chat. The app still shows everything as it stands.

Quiet hours and pausing

Email and push wait until quiet hours end. Your organisation’s quiet hours are 19:00 to 07:00 unless it changes them. The bell in the app is never held back.
  • Quiet hours: switch this on to use your own window instead, then set From and Until.
  • Pause email and push for 24 hours (on the web) or Pause for 24 hours (in the app) holds your email and push for a day. The bell in the app still shows new notifications. Select Resume now or Resume to end it early.
Everything waits for quiet hours to end, safety notifications included. There are two exceptions:
  • a medication reminder you set for yourself, which arrives when the dose is due;
  • a request to approve a new device of yours in Chat, which also gets through a pause and arrives even when your notifications are off, because you asked for it yourself a moment ago. Only its own switch stops it.
A link in an Elate email opens the record it is about. On a computer it goes straight there, asking you to sign in first if you need to. On a phone it asks Open in the Elate app? Choose Open in the Elate app or Continue in browser.

Notification types

Medication reminders, missed doses and refused doses come from the Medication (eMAR) module.
It was held by quiet hours. Email and push wait until the window ends. The notification was in your bell straight away.
Your organisation may have switched notifications off for everyone. In the Elate Care app, the notification settings screen says so at the top. Ask your organisation owner.
No. Messages are end-to-end encrypted, so they come only in the app and by push. See Secure chat.
